About Kaytee

(she/her)

I am a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), with an MA in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University. I ground my work in deep respect for individual differences and strengths, supporting clients who feel overwhelmed, stuck, or unsure of themselves, by using a warm, nonjudgmental, and person-centred approach, often with humor and intentional self-disclosure. Given my experience as an AuDHD individual diagnosed in my 40s, I have carved out a niche working with late-diagnosed perimenopausal and menopausal women, as they are an underserved population, and perimenopause and menopause are now special interests of mine. Thanks, biology.

I strongly believe that life is more peaceful when we embrace what makes us uncommon, and I strive to help my clients transform those differences into sources of strength and meaning. Using a trauma-informed lens, I help clients recognize that the coping strategies that once helped them survive may no longer be serving them — approaching this with compassion rather than judgment. Aside from employing a foundation of the Rogerian tenets of unconditional positive regard, congruence, and empathy, I use an integrative/eclectic approach, drawing from ACT, CBT, DBT, Psychodynamic interventions, and more, as required for each individual.

A lifelong visual artist (give me any medium, I’ll run with it), I bring creativity into both my personal and professional life. I believe that therapy can be a space for curiosity and self-discovery, and I integrate compassion, humor, and authenticity into my work. When am not "in the office," I'm often immersed in sci-fi or fantasy worlds, either through books or video games, usually with one or more cats sprawled across my lap. I also take pride in my quirky, ever-evolving relationship with food: though a notoriously picky eater (thanks, autism), I make an effort to try new things every so often, and I've recently (and triumphantly) added oyster mushrooms — deep-fried into oblivion, of course — into my regular rotation.

I work with all folks, male, female and everything in between, young or old, queer or straight, neurodivergent or neurotypical, with the same authentic acceptance.
