About Kaytee
Kaytee (she/her) is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying), who
just completed her MA in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville
University. Given her experience as an AuDHD individual diagnosed in
her 40s, Kaytee grounds her work in deep respect for individual
differences and strengths, supporting clients who feel overwhelmed,
stuck, or unsure of themselves. She specializes in working with
late-diagnosed perimenopausal and menopausal women, as they are an
underserved population, and perimenopause and menopause are now
special interests of hers. Thanks, biology.
With a warm, nonjudgmental, and person-centred approach using humor
and intentional self-disclosure, she strongly believes that life is
more peaceful when we embrace what makes us uncommon, and she
strives to help her clients transform those differences into sources
of strength and meaning. Using a trauma-informed lens, she helps
clients recognize that the coping strategies that once kept them
safe may no longer be serving them — approaching this with
compassion rather than judgment. Aside from employing a foundation
of the Rogerian tenets of unconditional positive regard, congruence,
and empathy, Kaytee uses an integrative/eclectic approach, drawing
from ACT, CBT, and Psychodynamic interventions as required for each
individual.
A lifelong visual artist (give her any medium, she’ll run with it),
Kaytee brings creativity into both her personal and professional
life. She believes that therapy can be a space for curiosity and
self-discovery, and she integrates compassion, humor, and
authenticity into her work. When she is not in the office, Kaytee is
often immersed in sci-fi or fantasy worlds, either through books or
video games, usually with one or more cats sprawled across her lap.
She also takes pride in her quirky, ever-evolving relationship with
food: though a notoriously picky eater (thanks, autism), she makes
an effort to try new things every so often, and she’s recently (and
triumphantly) added oyster mushrooms — deep-fried into oblivion, of
course — into her regular rotation. Kaytee works with all folks,
male, female and everything in between, young or old, queer or
straight, neurodivergent or neurotypical, with the same authentic
acceptance.
